"People who are currently homeless are waiting up to 5 to 10 years to get into permanent housing. (Willamette Week)."

Sam,

First I will say…"You have my vote". The last thing we need is Shanon "Status Quo" Singleton as a commissioner voting in lockstep with the frankly incompetent Jessica Vega Pederson.

I do want to add though that I believe we need to disabuse ourselves of the notion that Multnomah taxpayers can provide permanent housing for the homeless who come here from all over the USA. It's not feasible. Already high paying taxpayers are abandoning the County. People moving here have LESS income than those departing. There is no wall on the border of Multnomah County. People (even homeless/near homeless) are mobile and do come here for the services. "Build it and they will come" is a warning that we need to heed. I'm personally looking to get out of Multnonah. Unfortunately my time frame is still about 4 years away but unless things dramatically change, me and my tax dollars will be leaving in 2028.
