Incredible, Theresa. I’m well-acquainted with Sharon Olds, but your reading (and commentary) brought a whole new dimension to her poetry. “I signed up for the duration.” I never noticed that line until you read it. Considering what sex is like for females the first time out (“Only women bleed” as the song goes, it’s amazing how many come back for seconds. Women are resilient.)
And Djuna Barnes’ “Book of Repulsive Women.” The title alone is worth investigating. “You pay the price and wonder why you need her still.”
Thanks for so much entertainment, Theresa. It’s poetry just waiting to be discovered and shared.
Thank you for your comment. I wish Djuna Barnes had written more poetry...she was so good. But I love reading about her life more than anything. She led the most amazing, crazy life...
