Lizzo? Sam Smith? Who ARE these people?

The state of American music is dismal. I'm glad I am thoroughly OUT of the loop.

Who IS Lizzo? I never heard of the woman until only very recently. But apparently, the close to 400 pound woman has come under fire for “fat shaming” three of her very overweight dancers. The women also claim Lizzo “forced” them to perform a sex act with a… banana on a recent tour.

Lizzo, (who’s real name is Melissa Viviane Jefferson) claims that she is “healthy” are disputed by modern scientific inquiry. Lizzo continues to justify her obesity and deny that she is in danger, even going so far as to say: “I like being fat.” The singer is currently only 33, so in the next few years, if she continues at her current pace, she will experience the inevitable results of a lifetime of chronic obesity and obvious overeating.

Sam Smith, a celebrity who is a pop singer normalizes S and M behavior, lying, cheating, toxic, abusive, and unhealthy relationships. Smith also endorses “weight acceptance,” and denies that he is in any danger, health-wise, due to his weight issues.

In a recent article, quoted below, Smith’s reliance on shock value content, such as visually suggesting he is ingesting semen (felching?) should not be a part of mainstream pop music dissemination. It should be relegated to the dark web, with it’s fetish porn and other forms of extreme Kink.

“The music video sees the non-binary star, dressed in a bronze lamé trouser-suit and astride a chandelier, beating bare-bottomed dancers while dressed in a corset and sporting a lascivious facial expression, and lapping up shoots of a liquid whose source is ambiguous.”

Why is Kink a part of modern pop music? This ‘alternative’ music shouldn’t have high profile dissemination, so why does it?

I guess I’m showing my age when I say this “music” really isn’t music at all, but just a form of tedious, disappointing modern Kink with a beat. Despite not being able to connect with the “music” of two such misogynists, (for clearly they are) I am glad I came of age when I did in the 1970s and 1980s.

I can’t imagine anything worse than being a kid in today’s troubled world.

Rant Over.
