You put me to shame, Theresa. I read only 23 Substacks, 515 posts — but I came close to your total words: 894,894.

And, like you, I read BOOKS. For some reason, I turned to biographies mostly this summer. Real people living real lives. One of the best was “The Last Love Song” by Tracy Daugherty, a biography of Joan Didion. It’s almost gripping in places because you know what awaits her.

When she whispers in her daughter’s ear, “You’re safe. I’m here. You’re going to be all right,” you want to yell, “No, she isn’t. She’s going to die.”

The book brings to life American popular culture in the 60’s and the 70’s with all the drugs and the Manson family. Their descendants are roaming the streets of Portland.

LOL… You have a more well rounded life. I’m a kept woman. Housebound. LOL… I need to read that book though. Their poor daughter. They did so many things wrong as parents. I think she smoked while pregnant. I still need to read more about her life. Like you, I love to read. Would literally go nuts if I couldn’t read.

The weirdo descendants of Charlie Manson are definitely roaming Portland streets! Ha!

Yeah, that funny page just came up and I thought, what the heck! I’ll post it. Got nothing better to do. 😩
