I don't think you will ever find that leader in Portland. There are too many bleeding hearts to allow a entity to implement "tough love". That's what it's going to take to change the landscape of Portland. Every time someone comes forward with a plan to set up large encampments so these people can get the help they need, people in Portland start screaming "Concentration or Interment Camps!" 🎪 How are we ever going to address the problem if we can't "force" them into some sort of treatment? Many laws would have to be changed just to allow that. 😢

I think there are a lot of Portlanders ready to vote for Sam. People are tired of the lawlessness and the lack of help for the mentally ill and addicts. I try to remain hopeful. :)

I understand what you are saying but you hear a lot from the vey far left screaming minority in Portland. A LOT of people are tired of the lawlessness. However you’re right in that many keep voting for the same people (those supported by the nonprofits and the far left unions like PAT) despite their slow recognition of the cratering of livability here. However even In Portland this voting pattern is shifting. Examples are the elections of Gonzalez and DA Nathan Vasquez. Both good things. But you’re right the crop of current candidates for city council contain a lot of new iterations of Joanne Hardesty and Chloe Eudaly and Jessica Vega Pederson and Mike Schmidt . Shannon Singleton is a clone of JVP This election will be telltale sign of what’s to come. I’m still thinking I’ll need to move out of Multnomah County.

I did 3 years ago and it was the best decisions I ever made. My husband thanks me daily. However, it is not any cheaper to live outside of Portland except for maybe the few utilities that aren't tied to Portland. I have a friend who is waiting to see if things will improve once the new City Council gets voted in. It will make a difference in who wins those votes. 😏✅

“What is going on with Jessica? Maybe she’s just not a very good leader.”

Maybe? This is the understatement of the year.
