OREGON HIDDEN LEGACY - Featuring an hour with Fred Stewart, Portland's Legendary Real Estate Broker!

From his knowledge of Portland history, to the over 730 homes he's sold in the North End, Fred Stewart knows everyone and has an important perspective that everyone should know about!
A young Fred Stewart hard at work in the 1980s...

Oregon Hidden Legacy is a group which interviews notable Black Potlanders and other people of color. They have interviewed several accomplished people, including Larry Anderson, retired PPB, and Bruce Broussard, a TV talk show host and business owner.

Fred Stewart is their most recent interview!

Fred Stewart is a longtime real estate broker and has been a political candidate in Portland and a longtime activist, having served on numerous boards and committees, including police review boards, going back to the early 1990s.

With his successful company, Vanport Escrow & Title Company, Inc, Fred is a pioneer in the Portland business scene, encouraging Black professionals to enter the rewarding world of real estate, and escrow and title work.

“We at Vanport Escrow and Title, are committed to carrying on the memory of Vanport by telling the story and promoting the values of acceptance, diversity, and harmony demonstrated by residents. As the first Veteran and Black-owned escrow company in the entire state, we seek to improve the representation of minorities in the industry while also delivering unrivaled quality and service for our customers.”

More than anything, this interview is FUN, informative and historically significant. I hope you will listen to it and think about the relevant issues Fred talks about. No one knows Portland history better than Fred does! His perspective, experience and insight is IMPORTANT!

Correction: Oregon Hidden Legacy is its own independent entity and is not sponsored by the Oregon Historical Society. I apologize for the error.
