“Friends,
Multnomah County District Attorney Mike Schmidt just can’t help himself, it seems. Time after time he keeps finding himself at the center of rampant gender discrimination in his office. This time, that gender discrimination comes in the form of a formal complaint filed by his Chief Deputy District Attorney, who alleges gender discrimination and being passed over for promotions after making it clear that the DA’s office needs new leadership.
If this was a one-off circumstance, that would be one thing. But DA Mike Schmidt has now seen four gender discrimination lawsuits filed against his office, bypassing highly qualified people for promotions in favor of his buddies, and maintaining an “ol’ boys club” of political favoritism within his office.
So should we feel bad for Schmidt? Of course not. He built a toxic environment, and now he is facing the consequences.
Perhaps it explains why crime has gone unprosecuted and criminals walk the streets in Multnomah County; he is too busy bypassing the best and brightest talents in his department in favor of his Yes Men, and we all live with the consequences, including in one case a very significant financial settlement that we all paid for.
Multnomah County has had enough. It’s time for a prosecutor with over 20 years of experience and the respect of the office to take the reins, and Nathan Vasquez is that person. And while Schmidt utilizes all the levers of power he can to attempt to silence critics and keep his position, Vasquez has a grassroots movement.
He needs your help though: can you join this movement and contribute $25, $50 or $100 today? Help us get the word out and finally move Multnomah County in the right direction. Please contribute today.
Thank you,
The Vasquez Campaign
